All the puberty remarks remind me of some other bizarre ideas people have about linking physical development with other things.
- your kid isn't allowed to read until (s)he has permanent teeth
- babies must be weaned as soon as they have a tooth/can walk/can talk
Perhaps we shouldn't admit people to university until they break a wisdom tooth? Not allow them to draw an aged pension till their hair turns grey?
Not promote any kid to sixth grade until they get their period or start night ejaculations?
